Board Members

 

The organization’s activities are overseen by the Board. The Board responsibilities include hiring and dismissals, approving legally mandated reports, and making amendments to the organization’s charter. The Board consists of 9 members who work on a voluntary basis, and membership is renewed every 3 years. Decisions within the Board members are made by a two-thirds majority vote.

The Board will be composed of professionals with stellar track records and distinguished achievements. Board members will be drawn from an exceptional talent pool and will be required to uphold the key values of the organization, including honesty, integrity, and dedication. On top of their professional achievements, Board members are also expected to be reputable members of the community.

Samir Suleymanov

Chairman of the Board

Samir is the Senior Advisor to IMF Managing Director. Prior to his current position, Samir had a decorated career at the World Bank. In his 20+ year career with the Bank, he served the institution in different senior roles and left a lasting legacy. He brings a wealth of management experience from top global financial institutions to ForAzerbaijan. Samir is originally from Beylegan, Azerbaijan, and lives in Washington DC.

Kazim Kazimov

Member of the Board

Kazim is a Managing Director and Fixed-income Investor at Wellington Management Company. Over his career, Kazim has worked for distinguished academic and financial institutions, including Georgetown University and the International Monetary Fund. With his stellar academic record and experience in the financial industry, Kazim is uniquely positioned to oversee the finances of For Azerbaijan. Kazim is originally from Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan, and lives in Boston.

Tural Badirkhanli

Member of the Board

Tural is the CEO and Founder of the SolidShape startup. Prior to taking on this challenge, Tural has had fast-paced careers in tech giants Google and Twitter. Earlier he founded and successfully sold a tech-startup project to Twitter. Tural with his strong IT background will add tremendous value in making sure that the organization is technology-driven. Tural is originally from Quba, Azerbaijan, and lives in San-Francisco.

Ulviyya Zeynalova-Bockin

Member of the Board

Ulviyya is a Partner and Co-Managing Officer in Dentons’ Baku Office and the head of the Banking and Finance and Capital Markets practices. Prior to returning to Baku, Azerbaijan, Ulviyya lived, studied, and worked in the USA, Turkey, and Singapore, including work with the Corporation Finance Division of the US Securities & Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. and advising clients with business interests in the CIS countries while working in Salans’ New York office, and, more recently, in Dentons Rodyk in Singapore. Since 2016, Ulviyya has consistently ranked as a prominent lawyer in Azerbaijan by the leading legal rankings, such as The Legal 500, Chamber & Partners, and IFRL1000. She is the first female law partner in an international law firm in Azerbaijan and one of only five female lawyers recognized as the IFLR1000 Women Leaders in the country. Ulviyya is originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, and after being away for more than decade, now lives in Baku, Azerbaijan.
